Company of the Week: Meltwater – A Day in the life of Noora

Get a sneak peek into the day of a recent graduate and now Sales Consultant.

The day typically starts by catching-up with the team and going through what the day has in
store for each and everyone. We check if anyone needs any help and what everyone will be
focusing on today. We also forecast the results for the week and you learn very quickly how to
strategically evaluate your own input into clear business outcomes.

The rest of the morning consists of speaking with decision makers both over phone and face-
to-face; setting meetings for yourself with prospective clients; and also traveling to, and
attending previously booked business meetings face-to-face, where you hold product
demonstrations. You learn very quickly how to define and communicate value to different
businesses, industries and decision makers – training yourself into a confident business
communicator and negotiator.

After the morning we typically enjoy lunch together with colleagues and as our offices are
smack-bang in the city center, there are lots of options each day to choose where to go for
lunch.

Team work is very important in our work environment and we all work in very close-knit teams
where we help each other daily. Especially a new Sales Consultant has the close support of a
Sales Manager in sparring and planning cases, getting constant feedback on sales
processes, meetings, communication and negotiation. You will develop yourself very quickly
into a B2B-professional.

You’ll learn so much about different industries, different companies and what’s important to
the different decision-makers in a business. You can’t help but to become an expert on what’s
happening in the Finnish business landscape – as you research companies, speak to and
meet with company representatives on a daily basis. Whether it’s helping Kyrö Distillery with
their PR-outreach internationally, enabling the Sales Manager of a construction company with
new sales leads, or providing Suunto with market intel for their operational performance, you’ll
soon be the go-to-person in your group of friends on how different companies in Finland do
business.
