23C630 Capstone: Product and Brand Management

  1. Apparently in previous year this course has been one of the best ones in the bachelor’s marketing program from what I’ve heard, but in the spring of 2018 it was a total disaster. Firstly, there were no actual lectures during the course, instead the lectures were supposed to given in a podcast form which sounded like a nice idea IN THEORY. In practice, however, every single podcast was published later than promised (the last 2 ones less than a day before the final exam).

    In addition to the podcasts, the course consisted of 4 group case assignments. The cases themselves were quite interesting and not too hard but for some reason, all of them had to be turned in within the first 2 weeks of the course so the deadlines were quite tight. After the cases there was basically nothing to do except for listening to the podcasts, which weren’t really good and were published late every single time as mentioned above.

    The final exam was an open book exam and it could be done on computer or by hand. However, if you wrote the answers on computer (which I strongly recommend because otherwise you’ll run out of time), you had to also print them out during the 3 hour exam time. I just don’t understand why you couldn’t simply submit the answers to Mycourses.

    All in all, I didn’t enjoy the course at all and would’ve probably dropped it if it wasn’t mandatory.
